SIEMENS Building Technologies has announced it has expanded its portfolio to include Cotag starter and door kits for all of its SiPass systems.
According to the company, Cotag technology’s major benefit is that it can read both active (long-range) and passive (proximity) cards and tags, which makes it possible to mix both kinds of readers in a single system.
Siemens said almost every site will have at least one door that would benefit from a hands-free access control solution, and by the use of Cotag technology it is possible to install a Cotag hands-free reader at that door and proximity readers at the other doors.
Users can be issued either active or passive cards and tags, depending on their needs.
According to Siemens, the resulting system provides a high level of security and convenience for users and system administrators alike.
The company adds the system is also very cost-efficient in that active cards or tags only need to be distributed to the users that really need them.
Cotag technology is ideal for a wide range of environments including hospitals, schools, manufacturing plants, office buildings, airports and banks.
