THE University of South Australia (UniSA) will be introducing a new Masters program next year, which will equip graduates with technical skills to solve cybercrimes.

The Master of Science (Information Assurance) will be offered at UniSA’s Mawson Lakes Campus as part of the Division of Information Technology, Engineering and Environment (ITEE) and is the only one of its kind in Australia.

According to UniSA, the program is being offered to tackle the increasing problems of computer hacking, botnets and threats to critical infrastructure.

ITEE associate professor Jill Slay says the program will help growing demand for IT security professionals in Australia.

“This new program will train a new generation of forensic computing, critical infrastructure, defence, law enforcement, banking industry and IT security professionals who will be able to present scientific evidence in a court of law,” she says.
