AS PERIMETERS such as fences are the first point of entry for intruders, outdoor motion detectors have a significant role to play in modern security systems, offering a first line of defence against intruders before can gain access to the building’s assets.
With this knowledge, Siemens have launched their new Intrunet outdoor motion detectors in standard and high performance models, to suit a range of security needs such as logistics and warehousing sites to high risk infrastructure such as ports and airports, military sites, or power plants.
According to the company, the Intrunet line offers an effective way to limit damage to buildings and assets by triggering an alarm as soon as an intruder has entered the monitored outdoor perimeter.
The company said the different models offer volumetric or medium and long-range curtain coverage, ensuring security is maximised for all applications and risk levels.
Outdoor PIR detectors can be used to notify central monitoring stations that an intrusion is taking place and that further action is necessary, the company added.
According to Siemens, all models benefit from true temperature compensation, precision mirror optics and adaptive threshold decoding (ATD), enabling the sensitivity to be automatically adjusted to ambient conditions and ignore background interferences (wind, moving vegetation, etc).
High performance models are also fitted with an integral heater and can be used in applications subjected to lower temperatures.
