Scottish concerns over security goons

SCOTTISH police say they will be raiding private security firms in the Lothian region, following reports Glasgow gangsters were running construction security companies.

According to the Scottish police, some of the security companies guarding building sites might in fact be fronts for drug dealing and money laundering.

There is also the possibility that construction companies have been extorted into hiring these security companies.

Police visited 65 building sites on 4 March, nabbing 17 security staff for various offences. Most of the staff were found to have been working illegally without a license from the Scottish Security Industry Authority.

Although the blitz was but one of many planned, police say they have found no evidence of money laundering yet.
