Chris Tech to install stimulus package-funded CCTV system in Murwillumbah

CHRIS Tech has beaten a number of non-local firms for a $170,000 contract to install CCTV cameras in Murwillumbah.

The contract will be funded by $70,000 from the Federal Government program promised in 2008, as well as $100,000 from the economic stimulus package.

The proposed closed-circuit television (CCTV) security cameras will cover large parts of the Murwillumbah CBD, including a park, a swimming pool and a car park complex. The CCTV camera system is expected to reduce vandalism and street fights, with the system monitored via a 32 inch LCD monitor at a police station.

According to Chris Tech, it will be using megapixel-rated digital cameras as opposed to the old style standard analogue cameras. The CCTV system will allow better identification and wider angles of view.

Chris Tech is planning to fast-track installation of the cameras, as the CCTV system needs to be installed before September to comply with the economic stimulus measures.
